Alaska Cruises

Alaskan Cruises have become very popular of late. Consequently most major cruise lines will offer an Alaskan package, that optionally, will include land tours (very highly recommended). There are basically two itineraries: the Inside Passage and the Gulf of Alaska. No matter which one you choose, there will be plenty of opportunities for stopovers, activities and shopping along the way. The majestic scenery (think glacier and mountain peaks) and wildlife is of course the primary draw and the reason why over 700,000 visitors chart these waters every year.
Alaska Cruise Tips
- If you can, splurge, and a stateroom with a balcony. Imagine sipping tea or coffee while absorbing the views of glaciers.
- Alternatively, you can save by booking an inside cabin.
- Another way to save is to travel during the off-peak May and September months.
- The cruise season is typically from May to September.
- If you can, do add a land tour and see Alaska from land. It's worth it!
- Don't forget your camera. Unless you're a die-hard traditionalist, bring a digital camera with lots of capacity
- Because of its location, the days can be very long in Alaska during the summer! And of course very short during Winter but you wouldn't be cruising during that time.
