Virgin Gorda
For those of you who don't speak Spanish, Virgin Gorda literally means Fat Virgin. Legend has it that The Virgin Gorda Peak (about 1360 ft. high) reminded Columbus of a pregnant woman lying on her back. Well how one can be both a Virgin and pregnant is a bit of a mystery (of course except for the Virgin Mary) but after a long voyage across the Atlantic, one can forgive Columbus for his imagination.
Virgin Gorda is the third largest island in the British Virgin Islands and measures eight and a half square miles.
