Tortola, British Virgin Islands

Tortola

Tortola is named after the turtle doves that inhabit the islands (Tortola is Spanish for turtle doves). Tortola is the biggest island in the British Virgin Islands and is a popular destination for cruise ships and private yachts. With its coves, anchorages, and secluded beach, Tortola has often been called the French Riviera of the Caribbeans. The capital city is Road Town and is the center of activity on the island.

Tortola's beaches are second to none. Whether you spend the day at Apple Bay Beach, Cane Garden Bay, Long Bay, Smuggler's Cove, Brewer's Bay Beach, Elizabeth Beach, Josiah's Bay Beach and Lambert Bay, you just can't go wrong.
